Tutu’s Pantry Schedule

Each week the volunteers at Tutu’s Pantry ask a specific grade to help provide supplies for the Pantry Closet. The food is then given to students and families in need.

We encourage families who are able to participate to bring nonperishable items such as the examples below. Please only donate what you can.

  • hearty canned soups (such as Progresso or Chunky)
  • canned entrees (Ravioli, Spaghetti-Os and Chili)
  • single serve snacks (such as granola bars, fruit snacks or pudding cups)
  • boxed Macaroni and Cheese

How Your Donations Help

  • 35 Weeks of backpacks during the school year
  • Project 2nd Serving for eligible students
  • Winter Wishes Gift Card Program and Holiday Food Boxes
  • The opportunity for ALL students and their families to participate in Stevens community events

PTA Meeting – September 26

Hold the date – the  first of the academic year (2017-2018) PTA meeting is September 26, 2017.

All meetings are 6:30  - 8 pm in the Stevens library. Free child care is available for kids K-5. Spanish and Somali language assistance is provided.

Welcome Dr. Fitch!

May is bike to school month!

Let’s welcome our new principal, Dr. Brian Fitch. According to SPS, Dr. Fitch brings his instructional expertise in developing models that ensure all students, regardless of their achievement level, are provided the necessary supports to be successful to Stevens Elementary.

Most recently, Dr. Fitch served as the elementary math professional development coach at Van Asselt Elementary School where he provided leadership, instruction and professional development coaching for the literacy and math intervention program.

Dr. Fitch has also worked in Tacoma School District, at the Eastside Christian School, Everett Public Schools and the Quincy School District.

Welcome to the Stevens community, Dr. Fitch. We look forward to getting to know you.

Parent input sought for principal search

As we know, Principal Archer is leaving Stevens at the end of this school year. Seattle Public Schools is seeking input from parents into the hiring process for the new principal. Sarah Pritchett, the Executive Director of Schools, Central Region has sent out this link to a short, two question survey. If you didn’t see it, or haven’t filled it out, please do by Tuesday, May 31 in order to have your input considered.

Stevens Carnival!

Stevens Carnival is Friday, information pills June 10th from 5 to 8pm

If you’ve never been to or helped at a Stevens carnival, find you are in for a BIG treat! It is a magical, homegrown carnival with treats, prizes and games for all ages!!

Working a shift at the carnival is GREAT fun and an easy way to meet other Stevens parents and families. No one is too young to help! Without parent and child volunteers, we might not be able to keep all of the games going throughout the carnival. So come and pick a shift and create a more meaningful carnival memory with your child.

We need help with:

  • selling tickets and treats
  • helping kids pick out toys and prizes at the prize booth
  • staffing our 23+ homemade games during carnival
  • helping kids make carnival masks or get their faces painted
  • overseeing various carnival areas to make sure everything runs smoothly
  • cleaning up

About the Stevens Carnival

  • Stevens has had a carnival for over 40 years!We need your help to keep this tradition going!
  • Carnival is the biggest parent-run, community-building event at Stevens
  • Everyone is invited and there are no barriers for any Stevens student and their families to attend
    – each child is given 10 game tickets and additional tickets are only 25¢ each
    – treats start at $1 and kid meals at $5
  • It lasts for only 3 hours, but it takes over 150 volunteers to transform our playground into an old fashioned, homegrown, lovely midway of games, food, activities and prizes!

Carnival is a BLAST! There are so many smiles and so much excitement for the kids. Our kids count on carnival each year as THE major end-of-year event. This school year it is needed more than ever.
