As parents, discount we know that our kids need to move so they can settle down to learn. Recess provides our kids opportunities for fitness, social interaction, and time to use all parts of their brain so that they are ready to learn. The amount of recess offered in each Seattle elementary school varies by school, with kids in low income areas tending to have the least.
The Seattle Education Association is bargaining with the Seattle Public School district so all elementary schools can have 45 minutes of recess every day. You can advocate with SEA for more recess by emailing Superintendent Nyland (firstname.lastname@example.org) and the school board (email@example.com).
